We’re often told that the key to a happy life is not to “sweat the small stuff:” don’t let little things get us down. This can be useful advice, but in an extraordinary time when tragedy is happening unabated and culture encourages us to dull our empathy for others and get back to business, sweating the small stuff can be a gateway back to our own hearts.
