Many of us associate Martin Luther King with his famous “I Have a Dream” sermon, but five years after the March on Washington, the year he was assassinated, he delivered a sermon called “Unfulfilled Dreams.” Here he reminds us that much of life consists of plans and hopes that never reach fulfillment. Yet we often learn that it is that the planning that brings hope to our lives. Sure, we like to celebrate our accomplishments, but it is often the unfulfilled dreams that keep us striving towards justice.
