Charter: Committee on Ministry
Approved 11/30/2021
- Purpose:
- A primary goal of the COM is to work collaboratively with the minister to help ensure the minister’s success in our Fellowship’s shared ministry. The COM is a team of trusted lay leaders who collaborate with, and provide feedback to, the minister regarding our Fellowship’s shared ministry, allowing the minister to see more than their own perspective.
- The COM is also established to help resolve issues in cases where a direct personal communication with the minister is not viable, is not desired by one of the parties, or requires support. In cases where a satisfactory resolution cannot be found, or in which the issues are serious and pressing, the COM may choose to elevate their concerns to the Board.
- Scope:
- Develop the COM’s own approach to meeting the purposes described above.
- Develop the COM’s own confidentiality policy.
- Maintain minutes that the COM team members review and agree with.
- Publicize, to the members and friends of the Fellowship, the roles of the COM as well as how and when to engage with the COM.
- Maintain an ongoing respectful dialog and collaboration with the minister.
- Avoid taking an adversarial approach toward relationships with the minister and members of the Fellowship.
- Deliverables to the Board:
- Identification of issues that need to be brought to the Board’s attention.
- An annual report.
- Budget requests, as applicable.
- Team Authority:
- The COM is empowered to fulfill its purpose as defined above.
- Maintain an awareness of the COM’s own limitations, and refer members for professional counseling and other specialized services as appropriate.
